First Week of School

School started. Kind of glad to be in school again. I am saying this now before the project deadlines and exams start coming in.

Been spending quite a bit of money recently. So let's count the ways.

Serenade Chris and friend to death on Saturday. Serenade Zhiwei and Shufen to death (once more, literally) on Tuesday again. But the cost of the KTV this time was cheaper, because it was on a weekday.

Then went out shopping for new year clothes on Thursday with Chris. Bought 2 shirts and 2 pairs of pants/jeans. Went to TCC with Chris too. I think TCC has a very nice variety of coffee. Wasn't hungry, so didn't try the food. Just ordered a

Honey Latte

The presentation is wonderful right? There's even 2 cookies for you. One thing I have to gripe here, is that the sony ericsson camera have a problem with focusing on nearby objects. Anyway, this is a honey latte. So you can see that THICK layer of honey at the bottom? In fact, it was a bit too much honey. TOO SWEET! URGH. Never order a honey latte at TCC, unless you have a very sweet tooth. Instead, perhaps try a roasted hazelnut latte, as Chris had ordered. because he stirred it and destroyed the nice layers, I didn't take any pictures of it. Anyway, I took a sip of his, and it wasn't too sweet and was actually quite aromatic.

Did more shopping after that, and got drenched by the heavy rain and the water filled potholes in orchard road. Met up with Nicholas and Kokleng at night to have dinner. Thursday was one day after Nicholas' birthday, and one day before Kokleng's birthday, so,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THEM BOTH~~!!!

At Ajitei, we ordered..er..can't remember.

Lazy to take a picture of everyone's food.

My cutlet was quite stale, and the sauce that came with it was quite salty. Not good. Nicholas' unagi tasted quite good on the other hand. Didn't try Chris' or Kok's. The asparagus chicken skewer (or whatever you called it) also tasted nice.

After dinner, we did dessert.

Red Bean Paste

Some Dessert

The red bean paste was not bad. But the dessert set in the second picture wasn't too fantastic. In fact, for it looking so different, it tasted very common. Not good. Especially when it costs about $8+. All in all, food wasn't very good at Ajitei. Its located in the basement, right next to the supermarket (cold storage?).

The last drain to my wallet came, when I broke my frameless spectacles. Was waiting for the train at City Hall on the way to school. Decided to take off my spectacles, and give it a little clean on my shirt. So I was rubbing rubbing rubbing, and than it broke.

No more frameless spectacles for me. Anyway, been thinking of getting a new spectacles. So I guess this is the sign for me to get a new one.

Went to get a new spectacles fitted on the same day (a half-frame one). Thanks to Xiaoting for choosing a very nice one. Thanks to Angel, Zhiwei and everyone who was there to give their opinions. Haha. Always have problems getting a nice spectacles because it is hard to choose something when you are as blind as a bat.

The spectacles was ready for collection the next day. Thankfully. Because it was hard to move about when I can hardly see anything.

Going to Liang court later for dinner. More money about to be spent. Fortunately Chinese New Year's approaching. Perhaps I can recoup my losses then.

The Last Saturday of My School Holidays

Last Saturday of my school holidays, and I had to go back to school to do a stupid presentation on my project which I did during my industrial attachment.

Stupid, because it isn't even graded. I don't care for the prize, and besides, I already gave a more concise presentation to my attachment company.

I'd also want to bitch about CORS. Because they stated that we don't have to rush in immediately before open bidding ends, as we can view the results of the open bidding after it has closed. But they apparently didn't update the results until the entire bidding is over.

I also want to bitch about the way NUS relate important information that concerns our graduation to us. Because most of the time it is being phrased in a confusing way. And it doesn't help when they try to impose so many restrictions and pre-requisites and etc on us. Its like saying that we can only choose one kind of vegetable at dinner. But the vegetable must not be the same as the garnishes of our main dish and the vegetable must not be the same as what we had for lunch. In the event that the vegetable is the same as that of lunch and the garnish of our main dish, then we must order a vegetable that we had for dinner the day before. Fulfill these requirements, and we can have dessert, whereby the dessert has to be chocolate or contain nuts, or contains both. But for those born in the 2nd half of the year of '83, then we can ignore the requirement on the vegetable that we had for lunch.

......
Okay. Ignore that analogy. Got carried away. LOL

Anyway, after presentation, I went with Shufen and Zhiwei to IMM. Initially had wanted to walk around Giant, but I (or we?) were hungry, and we ended up at the Coffee Club (or Coffee Express? Can't remember the name).

Once there, I proceed to look at the menu. And once again, I fell prey to

MUSHROOM Crepe and Cheese

Wow. This picture does not do it justice. It tasted incredible. So heavenly! I was in a state of bliss throughout the time I took to clean up my plate. I didn't even bothered to ask my friends if they wanted to try some. haha!! And upon finishing it, I could only say,
"I want somemore!!"

But I didn't, and proceeded to order

Muddy Mud Pie

Saw a picture of a Mud Pie on Meizhen's MSN a few days back. That was why I wanted to try it. Didn't know mud pie is an ice-cream? Anyway, it tasted great the first few mouthful. But it was a bit too sweet and chocolaty for me, so I promptly began to feel quite sick of all the chocolate and sweetness. Maybe it'll better satisfy those with a very sweet tooth.

So after this, I went over to meet Christopher and his friend in Orchard for a KTV session, where I proceeded to serenade them to death (literally) with my singing.

In retrospect, this last saturday of my holidays didn't seem too bad.
Back to school soon.
Sigh.
Bring on the tutorials, projects and exams.

More Nostalgia

Long post. But had to do it.

Got this list from Mervyn~ How it all ring so true! Mostly.

1. You grew up watching He-man, MASK, Transformers, Silver Hawk, and Mickey Mouse. Not to forget, Ninja turtles, My Little Pony and Smurfs too.

MASK and Ninja Turtles were my favourite. Oh, and don't forget Captain Planet.

2. You grew up brushing your teeth with a mug in Primary school during recess time. You will squat by a drain with all your classmates beside you, and brush your teeth with a coloured mug. The teachers said you must brush each side 10 times too.

I remembered this. And I remembered thinking that squating beside a drain brushing teeth in the middle of the day was dirty, stupid and quite redundant.

3. You know what SBC stands for.

Can't remember what it meant. Singapore Broadcasting Corporation? But I do know it refers to what is now known as TCS.

4. You pay 40 cents for Chocolate or Strawberry MILK every week in class.

Vaguely remember drinking Chocolate milk in class.

5. You watch a very popular Malay dubbed Japanese drama on RTM1 about schoolgirls who possess powerful skills in volleyball called Meoro Attack.

Er. Nope. No memories.

6. You find your friends with pagers and handphone cool in Secondary school.

Handphones didn't exist back then. Pagers were cool. Most people died without alpha numeric paging.

7. SBS buses used to be non-air conditioned. The bus seats are made of wood and the cushion is red. The big red bell gives a loud BEEP! when pressed. There are colourful tickets for TIBS buses. The conductor will check for tickets by using a machine, which punches a hole in the ticket.

I remembered the beep and the red cushion. That's all.

8. Envelopes given to us to donate to Sharity Elephant every Children?s Day.

Can't really remember. Had to donate to too many things in Primary School.

9. You've probably read Young Generation magazine. You know who 'Vinny' the little vampire and Acai the constable.

Oh! I know Acai! And Sam Seng and gang from the Bookworm books.

10. You were there when they first introduced MRT here. You went the first ride with your parents and you would kneel on the seat to see the scenery.

Think I was too young. But I remember having photos when my parents brought me to see some..er..MRT exhibits? as they are being introduced.

11. Movie tickets used to cost only $3.50.

I didn't watch movies much. Maybe like 2 movies a year.

No. I did not. I think.

14. You longed to buy titbits called Kaka (20cents per pack), and Ding Dang (50 cents per box), that had a toy init and it changes every week not forgetting the 15 cents animal crackers and the ring pop, where the lollipop is the diamond on the ring.

Oh!!!! Those tibits with toys in them!? I think I am guilty!! And I loved that lolli~~~

15. You watched TV2 (also known as Channel10) cartoons because Channel 5 never had enough cartoons for you.

Yes. I think I did this.

16. Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, The Three Investigators, Famous Five and Secret Seven are probably the thickest storybooks you ever thought you have read. Even Sweet Valley High and Malory Towers.

Famous Five and The 3 Investigators. Especially The 3 Investigators. Brilliant. And er..RL Stine and Christopher Pike anyone?

17. KFC used to be a high-class restaurant that serve food in plates and let you use metal forks and knives.

Really?????

18. Catching was the IN thing and twist as the magic word.

Catching and Pepsi Cola 1, 2, 3. HAha

19. Your English workbooks were made of some damn poor quality paper that was smooth and yellow.

Don't remember.

20. CDIS were your best friend.

No it wasn't.

21. The only computer lessons in school involved funny pixellised characters in 16 colours walking about trying to teach you maths.

Yes. But was quite dumb nontheless.

22. Water bottles were slinged around your neck and a must everywhere you go.

HAHA! I remembered! Look at our water bottles now! SO BORING!!!!!

23. Boys loved to play soccer with small plastic balls in the basketball court.

We used to play with plastic mineral bottles. Amazing how we manage to actually kick it anywhere.

Guppy and Angsana.

26. Who can forget Ahmad, Bala, Sumei and John, eternalized in our minds from the textbooks. Even Mr Wally & Mr. Yakki. What about Miss Lala??? And Zaki and Tini in Malay Textbooks?

I can't remember the names! In fact, I can't remember much of my textbooks anyway. oh! But I remember the line, "See Spot Run!"

27. We carry out experiments of our own to get ourself badges for being a Young Zoologist/Botanist etc.

This sounds familiar! But memory so fuzzy now.

Mine was Panda brand!!!!!

31. Your form teacher taught you Maths, Science and English.

Yup. And we only needed to study Maths, Science and English. And Chinese too.

32. The worksheets were made of brown rough paper of poor quality.

I always tore a hole through it when I rubbed too hard on it with my eraser.

33. You went to school in slippers and raincoat when it rained, and you find a dry spot in the school to sit down, dry your feet, and wear your dry and warm socks and shoes.

No. I took the school bus. It drove up to my house.

34. School dismissal time was normally around1 pm.

Yes. And my tummy would be growling by then. So hungry and I still have to wait for the other lines of students to systematically board the school bus.

37. You see Wee Kim Wee's face in the school hall.

Er. Didn't bother.

38. You freak out when the teacher tells you to line up according to height and hold hands with the corresponding boy or girl.

Nope. Was in a boys school. Unless you mean kindergarden. We used to terrorise the girls there.

39. Boys like to catch fighting spiders.

And all other kinds of bugs.

40. Collecting and battling erasers was a pastime for boys.

YAH! Those erasers of those country flags???? WHeeeeee!!!
