Merry Christmas

Woke up this morning feeling cold.
It's like it had been snowing.
It rained the entire day yesterday.
It almost could have been snow...

I used to love Christmas. Don't know why it feels less magical this year.
Could it be that I am growing older? That I am therefore becoming more pragmatic? I don't want to lose the wonderment and whimsical nature of a child that make things like this magical...

Ahhh...

Anyway, I recieved a great present on the eve of Christmas. Actually, not exactly great. But...well..I don't have a choice, right? I can't be picky. Beggers can't be choosers. Haha...

So, Merry Christmas everybody.
Hope everyone had a great time and recieved some really nice presents.

And I reckon half the working population in Singapore took leave on Friday.

10 years down.....

You know,

10 years down the road, I hope they will do a survey on the success of people who graduated in the past 10 years.

And I hope the results of the survey would be along the lines of - "Those who graduated during the recession of '08 and who could only find a job after more than 6 months tend to display traits of being more determined, resilient and having more perseverance. This group of people hence, tend to be much more successful in their jobs and lives, compared to people who have graduated during better times."

Yah.

Hmph!

Speed Racer

Just watched it.

I don't understand why most reviews said it was boring. I actually found it kind of entertaining. Perhaps because I didn't really watch the whole movie in one sitting...

Okay, so perhaps the story is your usual cliche stuff, but I thought most people should have known this is a movie to just throw your brain off somewhere and just enjoy the spectacular eye candy. Final Fantasy: Advent Children didn't make any sense at all, but everyone enjoyed it for the gravity defying leaps and spectacular actions scenes.

I enjoyed Speed Racer for its technicolour cheesiness. The Wachowski brothers are in my opinion, visionaries more than directors. Speed Racer is like bubblegum pop to me. I know it isn't anything too deep, but I can't help but be affixed by it.

Also, I realise I have a very low tolerance level for people who tend to be inept. I know this sounds really arrogant of me, but ARGH! It is sometimes so exasperating.

Finally, I managed to use the word technicolour! I've always wanted to use that in my sentence after hearing Anthony Bourdain using it to describe food. Haha! Gosh, I am so weird.

Stephen Hawking and the Theory of Everything

I've always had an interest in the way the universe works. How it was born out of nothing, how colossal entities could explode with such extreme violence, how vast it actually is, how little we understand about it... I like it, because thinking about it stretches the imagination. It is humbling, and it reminds of how tiny and insignificant one is.

So naturally, I like documentaries about how the universe works. But after a few shows, things start to get extremely boring. It is always about the same thing. How our solar system was created. How our moon was probably part of the Earth once. How black holes seemingly disobey laws of physics. How we can travel faster than light through wormholes and whatnot.

Therefore, once in a while a documentary comes up that goes deeper into the subject matter, and I am at once all over it.

So I just came off from watching "Stephen Hawking and the Theory of Everything" (Okay, not just. Probably about 2 hours ago) and it was great.

It gave a little insight to Hawking Radiation, explained how we will probably not be around had the creation of our universe during the big bang been perfect and tried to explain how Superstring theory could reconcile the force of gravity into the other fundamental forces for the Theory of Everything.

It was a good 2 hours. Although I missed the first 30 mins because I was watching the stupid and lame movie, Rob Schneider's "The Animal".

Stephen Hawking rocks.

I delayed taking a dump and supper because of him.

Oh.

Michio Kaku rocks too.

Advertisments

I learn that if I were a girl and wear glasses, no guy is ever going to notice me at a party, even though I look so much better than most ordinary girls with my glasses on.
I hence need contact lenses. Yes, that's right. Guys will only notice me with contact lenses on.

And did anyone see the latest Coke ad?
It has "no added preservatives or artificial flavors" and made from the "best spices from around the world."
I know that is not technically incorrect. But what? Is coke like the new health drink or new fruit juice now?

Sigh. Things one learn from commercials.
